  • The internationally recognized ALGEE Action Plan

Mental health challenges can affect anyone — at work, at school, at home, or within our communities. Knowing how to respond can make a meaningful difference. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training program that teaches participants how to recognize the signs of mental health and substance use challenges, provide initial support, and connect individuals with appropriate professional resources. Like CPR or physical first aid, MHFA equips everyday people with practical skills to respond until appropriate help is available — it does not train participants to diagnose or provide therapy.

What You'll Learn

Participants learn to recognize common signs and symptoms, respond to someone in crisis, start supportive and nonjudgmental conversations, listen with empathy, encourage appropriate professional help, connect individuals with community resources, and reduce stigma surrounding mental health. The course teaches the internationally recognized ALGEE Action Plan, a five-step framework for offering initial mental health support.

Who Should Attend

No prior mental health training is required. MHFA is valuable for healthcare professionals, caregivers, educators and school staff, HR professionals, supervisors and managers, first responders, faith leaders, community organizations, parents, students, and anyone interested in supporting mental wellness.

Benefits for Organizations

MHFA is an excellent professional development opportunity for organizations seeking a healthier workplace culture — promoting employee well-being, increasing awareness, supporting early intervention, and fostering a culture of compassion and inclusion.
